Choo choo!

Door 16 | December 16th | Make the scenic drive to Mineral Washington to enjoy a ride on the Snowball Express! The Mt. Ranier Scenic Railroad Company offers a yearly run of their steam engine, complete with Santa photo ops and toys for the small riders. Apparently, steam engine runs with the jolly red one are a Northwest Holiday Tradition(TM). I know that I never saw anything like this growing up in the South, but I was thrilled to get the chance to do this with Moon here!

Also, those with children getting over Santa-shyness may find this a lower-stress photo op than the mall. Santa very smartly gives each kid a candy cane before asking the kid to sit anywhere near him. Bribery is great methodology. He then sits at the front of the car, and kids can come approach him to talk and receive a small toy to go with that sugar. Moon’s favorite part was handing our tickets to the man tearing them, and we’ve been playing Train Tickets ever since. Highly recommended.
