Countdown to Potterdom…

Harry Potter and the Deathly HallowsIn three days, the next Harry Potter movie will be in theaters. Dozens of kids in wizard robes and prep-school ties will be lining up outside the Pacific Science Center’s Imax theater and escaping to Hogwarts. At Midnight on the 20th, the final book in the series will be released, and children (and their parents) will be closeting themselves away to read all 784 pages of Year 7. But what’s an impatient Muggle to do in the meantime?

As it turns out, ironic hipster band Harry and the Potters can help. The two brothers who created the band (and arguably the whole “Wizard Rock” phenomena) portray Harry Potter Year 4 and Harry Potter Year 7 as they sing about topics such as saving Ginny Weasley and being a wizard. As part of their insane Summer of nationwide shows, they’ll be playing in Washington libraries, bookstores, and teen centers throughout the week.

The ParcelmouthsThe Kirkland Teen Center is hosting the first show, Sunday July 8th at 3:30, with local Wizard Rock band The Parcelmouths opening (head on over to their My Space page to hear “I’m a Voldemort Fan Girl!” — I am so in love with this song). Check below for a selection of their local appearances, and check their websites for more stops.

Maybe your Wizards can’t fly or play Quidditch — but are they ready to rock?
