In the tradition of They Might Be Giants, dial-a-story.

They Might Be Giants dial-a-song program was amazing — call a number, hear a song. That simple, and ingenious, and kind of heart warmingly simple and good (now, they have dialasong.com, where you can download podcasts, or click a picture and hear a song).

Seattle Public Libraries have a program that allows for the same, but with children’s stories. Available in both English and Spanish, calling the dial-a-song hotline (206.386.4656) will allow your child to hear this month’s children’s story. Plus, some number work as you dial the numbers on the phone (a total added bonus for Moon, who loves to play with this verboten object). The reader’s are different children’s branch librarians in the SPL system, so who knows. Maybe you’ll hear your local children’s librarian this month (or next, or the one after…).
