Quick Notes on an October Weekend

Clara and her Nutcracker Prince

Clara and her Nutcracker Prince

While it pains me to note that Christmas decorations are already up at Costco (!), I apparently have no qualms about the fact it’s time to grab Nutcracker tickets, judging by the time I spent on hold with the PNB box office earlier today. Worried that your small one can’t sit through an entire Nutcracker performance, but still want to see the amazing Maurice Sendak nutcracker costumes that Pacific Northwest Ballet has to offer? Try the Nutcracker Brunch (review from last year here).

Woodland Park Zoo’s Pumpkin Prowl (October 24th, 25th, & 26th) tickets are on sale, with tickets purchased from event sponser Bartell’s offered at a discount.

And on a non-holiday related note (unless you count the movie coming out in time for the holidays), award winning children’s author Kate DiCamillo will be speaking at the Seattle Public Library downtown branch tomorrow (Saturday, October 11th, 4pm). She will be reading her new picture book, “Louise: The Adventures of a Chicken” and copies will be available for purchase and signing. The event itself is free.
